1 Day in San Francisco

I never imagined all the things that can be done in a day until I visit San Francisco.

This trip was not planned at all in advance. After spending 4 days in Los Angeles (See post “Pros and Cons of traveling to California“), my boyfriend and I made a spontaneous decision to drive to San Francisco to spend one night there and then return to Los Angeles to take our flight to return at home.

After 6 hours drive, we arrived in San Francisco at night. Thank God we had a friend who showed us that night all the tourist places we could go to in the morning, where to park, and which route to take, etc. We saved ourselves a lot of time due to his suggestions. We saw many areas of San Francisco in 1 night.

The next morning, we embarked on the adventure of visiting 4 attractions in 3 hours. Never imagined that we would complete it because if you’ve been to San Francisco before, you know how horrible the traffic can be.

We did it anyway and… here we go!

The incredible Golden Gate Bridge.

The best view of this bridge is from Fort Point National Historic Site, however, you have other options such as Crissy Field, Marshall’s Beach, Golden Gate overlook. I recommend arriving early around 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. to get a parking spot and take your best pictures. I have no words to describe how wonderful it was.

Palace of Fine Arts.

This monumental structure with a Greco-Roman architecture is an incredible piece of art that leaves you speechless. Undoubtedly, its beauty delights you both day and night. My suggestion is to visit this place in the morning hours or at night late hours because it’s easier to find a parking spot on the street without having to pay.

Lombard Street.

A street that will undoubtedly surprise you. The beauty of its flowers and the way they built the street (is an east-west zigzag street), make it a popular tourist attraction. If you want to drive down this street, the best time is at night at around 10 p.m. If you go during the day prepare to deal with all the tourists on the streets. My recommendation is to park on a nearby street and walk to this place to take the pictures.

The amazing view from Twin Peaks.

This place offers you one of the best views of San Francisco. It has a free parking lot that is open 24 hours a day. We had the opportunity to go both in the morning and at night, but I definitely recommend visiting this place in the morning. Since the road to the peak is a curvy mountainous one, you have to drive carefully.
