Tru by Hilton

Rating: 4 out of 5.

We decided to stay in Chattanooga for two nights on our road trip to Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Since my boyfriend has a Hilton Honors membership, we chose True by Hilton because it was a great deal.

Location: I didn’t like the location at all. To me, it didn’t look like a safe location. The streets look ugly and run down and the traffic is horrible. The hotel does not have any fences around it. The positive aspect of the location is that it is close to the highway and there are many food places around.

Room details: The room looked new and well maintained. Air conditioning worked perfectly. Beds and pillows are comfortable (very soft pillow). There were no bad smells in the room, on the contrary, it smelled clean. I like that there’s no carpet flooring in the room. You have to understand that the room layout is a modern concept, therefore you will not find a closet in the room. I like that the rooms are designed to make the most out of the space in a fairly minimalist way. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion are inside large jars that they refill every time they run out. It is not like in the typical hotels that give you small bottles. If you need to change your towels or have your room cleaned during your stay, you must notify, otherwise, no one will clean your room. I like this policy because I do not want a housekeeping staff entering my room every day. TV was big and has access to connect HDMI cables which allows you to connect your computer and watch Netflix or anything you want.

AppearancesThe entire hotel looked clean and new. The hotel looks very well maintained outside and everything looks good inside. When you arrive in your room for the first time you will find a label on the door that assures you that the room has been disinfected.

Breakfast: Our reservation included breakfast. Unfortunately, this was one of the things that I dislike about the hotel. They only offered coffee, hot chocolate, cereal, milk, and juice. They took Covid-19 as an excuse to not serve anything else. Covid-19 should not be an excuse for not serving breakfast, hotels should find a way to satisfy guests. They could serve takeout food such as cupcakes and sandwiches.

Price: We paid in total for two nights $276.71 all the fees included. We got a discount for having Hilton honors members.

Parking: The hotel has its own free parking. This is one of the aspects that I usually look for when I make a reservation because, in the United States, hotel valet parking can be expensive.

The hotel has potential but the location is horrible. Anyway, it is fine to stay here for a night or two. Check-in and check-out were fast and easy. The guy at the front desk let us check in a little early which was very helpful.
