Cave of the Winds Mountain Park

Cave of the winds mountain park

It is an amazing park located in Manitou Springs, Colorado. It is not known exactly how old the caves are, but in 1869, Arthur B. discovered a cave entrance to what we now know as Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. In 1881, George Washington Snyder after discovering massive caves continued excavating and began offering guided tours. In 1907, electricity was installed in some parts of the cave.

Today the Cave of the Winds is one of the oldest and most famous attractions in Colorado. They offer a guided tour inside the cave. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history and geology of the cave while watching wonderful rock formations although you can’t touch them or the walls inside the cave and is somewhat cold and dark. It is a great experience that I recommend doing it.

Hours: Tuesday – Sunday, 8 AM – 6 PM.

Admission: The prices of the tours vary according to visitors’ age, type of tours, and hours (from $ 16 to $ 49).

Suggested Duration: more than 2 hours.

Address: 100 Cave of the Winds Rd, Manitou Springs, CO 80829, USA.

What else can you do?

This park not only offers you guided tours inside the caves, but also offers you different activities such as frontier zip lines, climbing, aerial attractions, walker challenge course, terror-dactyl (you will free fall over 150 feet into breathtaking Williams Canyon), and virtual reality theater.

Each of these activities has different costs (from $30 to $99).

Tips

You can visit the surroundings of the park and the store for free. You can also buy soda, water, snack, ice cream, and others at Canyon Rim Grill. Try to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, especially closed shoes if you want to visit the cave.
