Incline Railway

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This is one of the highlights to visit in Chattanooga. It is a different experience especially if you never have been on this kind of mountain side railway before. It can be something exiting for kids as well.

The trip is about 10 minutes each way (approximately one-mile long). Once you arrived at the top you can hang around for the incredible view and taking pictures, and then wait for another train to go back down. They have a gift shop and café at the top.

What should you know before going?

Be prepared – cabins have fans but not A/C, so it can get a little warm in summer.

It is not necessary to take a railway to get to the top and have an amazing view. You can visit the top by car, but if you want to take a railway you have to go to the address below where you can park and buy a ticket for the railway.

The incline railway isn’t a tour around the mountain or anything like that. It is a simple way to get up and down.

Parking fee is $2 and the lot isn’t in great condition.

I consider this attraction expensive because there’s nothing to do on the top except for the stunning view which you can get for free if you go in your car. Plus I don’t like the fact that they charge additional for a parking spot.
