Savannah, Georgia an old and quiet downtown

Have you ever felt tired of your daily routine to the point of wanting to run out of the city?. If your answer is yes, continue reading this article. Get up early, prepare breakfast, get ready for work, drive in traffic that makes you want to cry, work 8 hours sometimes more, go to the gym, get home, prepare dinner, work from home, sleep and again repeats the same routine. Does it sound familiar to you? For many people this is their day to day.  You want a nice vacation but you do not have many days off, or you do not want to go somewhere that will stress you more instead of getting a rest? I found the perfect city to enjoy for a weekend without having to worry about planning a lot. This place is Savannah located on the coast of Georgia in the United States.

This city will make you fall in love with the architecture of its buildings, the old trees, the tranquility in the streets, the flavors of the meals, and many other things that make this city a perfect place to rest.

My boyfriend and I drove from Orlando to Savannah (about 5 hours drive) to celebrate Thanksgiving in this wonderful city, and it is one of our best and most relaxed trips. We did not plan anything at all in detail, but the things to do in the city are scale-able enough for our spontaneous improvisation.

One of the best ways to explore the city is by walking, however, there are some small train tours and for the more romantic ones, you can get to know the city in horse carriages.

If you want to explore the city on foot, I recommend you stay downtown. Depending on the hotel, you may or may not have a free parking space. In case of hotels with only valet parking, I recommend parking in any paid parking lot because it may be cheaper.

Some things to do in Savannah:

You can walk along Whitaker Street, from W Congress St to W Park Ave (Forsyth Park), to enjoy the beauty of the small gardens, parks, and some museums around the area.

For wine lovers, I recommend going to the Wine Tasting Room at The Salt Table, a place that you will like without a doubt. They offer the most delicious local wines. Their exclusive fine wines are only available there and they do not sell them in any other states. Read more

Do you want to walk while enjoying scenic views and explore unique items in local shops? I recommend you to visit River Street. Its centenary buildings make this street a magical place where the river view makes you forget about any problem and just relax.

On River Street, you can find a variety of restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. In addition, on some weekend nights, you can enjoy live street music around river street.  It is the perfect place to share with your partner, your family, or just alone. For more information Visit Website

Old Town Trolley Tours: A different but fun way to get to know Savannah. There are different types of tours that you can buy, depending on how many days and how much fun you want to experience in the Trolley. For ghost lovers I recommend the Ghosts & Gravestones Tour. Sixth Sense Savannah Ghost Tour: Explore the enchanted heritage of Savannah through a special tour with exciting stories and true mysteries. This tour goes beyond the areas of normal tourist attractions. It is a 2 hour tour in which you will visit cemeteries, secret underground morgues and tunnels and hear stories of lost loved ones and their need to communicate beyond the grave. This tour is only for true fans of paranormal activities. Visit Website

For lovers of beaches and lighthouses, the best place is Tybe Island. You need a motor transportation because it is far from the downtown. You can visit the beautiful beach or you can visit Tybee Island Light Station And Museum.  Read more

Recommended Restaurants and Bars

Top Deck Bar

The best thing about this bar is the view. You can sit outdoor and have a drink and admire the beautiful view. You do not need a reservation. If your hotel is in the same area, try to walk to the bar because at night the streets are busy with shops, street performances, and festivities along River Street. Read more
